iPowered One-Shots: Tablets in Library Instruction
Thursday, May 8
Academic instruction librarians are increasingly challenged to engage students in active, participatory sessions. Transitioning to the “guide on the side” is difficult in classrooms designed for “sage on the stage” lectures. In this session, learn about the development of a new multi-use classroom at Towson University’s Cook Library designed to promote innovative, active instructional practices, featuring iPads as the primary individual computing devices. The session will highlight the current climate of tablet-based library instruction and tools used for analyzing instructional technology, along with a preliminary report of librarians’ experiences, confidence, perception, and use of tablets in our new instructional space.
This program is worth 1 contact hour of continuing education.
