2012 Conference Highlights: Creating Tutorials Using Screencasting Software

Each week between now and the 2012 MLA/DLA Joint Conference, we’re highlighting one of the conference sessions sponsored by ACRL MD. The conference will be held from May 9-11 at the Clarion Resort – Fountainbleau Hotel in Ocean City, MD. Registration is open now, and early bird rates are good through March 15. For more information on the conference, please take a look at the conference program (PDF).

Creating Tutorials Using Screencasting Software (Pre-Conference)
Wednesday, May 9
noon – 5pm

Video tutorials have become an established method of delivering online, point-of-need help to library patrons. If you have not ventured into this arena yet, here is your chance! This pre-conference will give you hands-on experience using the screencasting software Camtasia and will guide you through the steps of producing your own online video tutorials – from planning to recording to assessment. Join a skilled team of librarians as they demonstrate Camtasia and discuss best practices involved in the process of creating screencasts. Registration for this pre-conference includes a complimentary headset and one-year subscription to the screencasting application JingPro. Note: registration will be limited to 15 participants. Lunch will be served in the restaurant from 12:00 to 1:00.
