Libraries: Friends with Benefits ACRL MD’s Second Annual Unconference
ACRL MD is hosting its second annual unconference on Friday, May 20 from 9:30-3, with a theme of “Libraries: Friends with Benefits”. Come meet with fellow librarians to present and discuss what you and your libraries are doing or what tools you’re using to benefit your patrons and communities. An unconference is user driven, so the specific topics to be discussed will be voted on during the meeting. You can start participating before hand by suggesting a topic or volunteering to give a brief presentation on something you would like to share.
All attendees are invited to suggest topics upon which they would like to speak or have a discussion, as long as it fits under the unconference theme (see title). The morning will start off with a speed networking event allowing attendees to meet each other and learn about their roles in their respective libraries. After speed networking, attendees will vote on the topics that will be discussed during the Lightning Talks. The Lightning Talks will be 5 minute talks on a topic. These talks can be a presentation unto themselves or used to introduce a topic someone wishes to speak at further length on during the afternoon Prepared Talks. Depending on the number of attendees and number of topics, we hope to have 2 or 3 groups of concurrent sessions during the Prepared Talks. There will be 2-3 sessions running from 1:00 –1:45 and another 2-3 session from 2 – 2:45, with time for review as a group at the end. Each session may have 1-2 speakers start off with a short 10-15 minute presentation to stimulate discussion, and the rest of the session will be about sharing ideas.
For more information contact Danielle Whren Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org, or just register for the unconference, and we will contact you.
