Only 1 Week Left to Register for Fall Program

Don’t miss out on this year’s fall program. There’s only 1 week left to register, so register today.

Please join ACRL MD for their Fall Program, The One Shot Is Dead; Long Live the One Shot.

The one-shot instruction session is a great way to teach students how to do research for a particular project – but how well does it support development of students’ overall information literacy? At this half-day session, we’ll explore this question. We’ll start by setting the foundation with a presentation on William Perry’s “Forms of Ethical and Intellectual Development in the College Years.” This will be followed up with a debate about the pros and cons of the one-shot instruction session. Lastly, we’ll take a look at two different ways of delivering information literacy instruction: roving reference and embedded librarianship.

Speakers:
Catherine Johnson, Reference/Instruction Librarian, University of Baltimore
Shana Gass, Reference Librarian, Towson University
Brandy Whitlock, Instruction Librarian, Anne Arundel Community College
Sue Bonsteel, Coordinator of Public Services, Stevenson University
Joanna Gadsby, Reference and Instruction Librarian, University of Maryland, Baltimore County
Shu Qian, Science Reference and Instruction Librarian, University of Maryland, Baltimore County

This session will be held on Friday, October 15 from 9:30am – 12:45pm, in Sweadner Hall at Frederick Community College (7932 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702). Registration will begin at 9am.
